About the IGM

General Inspectorate of Mines — DRC

The mining sector is one of the pillars of the Democratic Republic of Congo's economy. Keen to strengthen governance in this sector, President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo initiated the creation of a body dedicated to the control and inspection of mining activities.

This vision materialized with the issuance of Decree No. 23/19 of June 9, 2023, establishing the General Inspectorate of Mines (IGM), which defines its organization and operations.

The IGM's mission is to ensure the rigorous application of mining legislation, promote best practices, and contribute to more transparent, responsible, and secure management of the Democratic Republic of Congo's mineral resources.
